12 College Programs with 100+% Growth

Johnny Nash wrote an award winning song in 1972 called “I Can See Clearly Now”. It was one of those one-hit wonders that still is around today. Johnny would be proud to learn that the field of Vision Science and Physiological Optics topped our findings for emerging program growth with growth from 2014 to 2015 of 229%. This program is offered at a bachelor’s level and above.

One that also clearly stood out was Security and Loss Prevention Services, which had growth of 146%, but what was even more notable was the fact that the as a 1-2 year certificate program, it has gone up ten-fold. In light of the current attention on cyber security, it is no surprise this program is showing growth. United Education Institute offers this program around the country.

Flagging and Traffic Control make the list as a 1 year certification offering but is only offered in Washington state. I guess only Washington experiences traffic! Finally, Intermedia/Multimedia programs caught my eye as the largest of the program offerings with 1,435 degrees awarded in 2015 vs. 558 in 2014. This program is most popular at a Bachelor’s degree level.

We filtered our Interactive for only those programs that had at least 100% growth and at least 30 degrees awarded in both 2014 and 2015.
